It doesn’t always feel glamourous as your body changes over these 9 months (hello swollen feet), but you see the beauty of pregnancy and want to embrace your new curves with pregnancy portraits that not only capture your overwhelming feelings of joy for your growing baby but also help you walk away from our time together feeling confident, beautiful, and thankful for the incredible gift your body is growing for you!
Guided Pregnancy Posing
You can be confident that I’ll use my 12+ years of professional photography experience in the Kingston, Ontario area and professional training on posing women of all shapes and sizes to create gorgeous pregnancy photos that you will be proud to share with friends and family. Getting your maternity portraits taken can sometimes cause anxiety for women as your body has changed drastically and you might not feel as comfortable as you once did. I totally understand that feeling as a plus size mom myself! I promise I’ll guide you step by step through the entire process from the moment you arrive to the studio, posing you from head to toe so that you look amazing and feel comfortable, confident and excited to see the final portraits we create together.

THE PROCESS
Booking Your Maternity Photoshoot
It’s best to photograph your maternity session between 28-35 weeks (earlier the better for twins) and to contact me in the beginning of your 2nd trimester to book into our calendar (though we do keep openings for last minute bookings we recommend booking earlier so you won’t be disappointed if our calendar is full).
This window of time means that your belly is a great size but you are still comfortable moving around and we’ll take breaks whenever you need it.
You’ll receive an invoice to pay for your Session Fee to officially book in your session date to ensure your spot and a second invoice to pay the remaining balance of your chosen collection before your session takes place. By pre-purchasing your collection you’ll have one less thing to worry about as you prepare for baby’s arrival.

Planning Your Maternity Photoshoot
Before your pregnancy portrait session, we’ll start planning your session. Treat this maternity photoshoot like your dream photoshoot - be adventurous and try a look that’s outside of your comfort zone. You want a maternity photoshoot that is a little bit extra ( I mean you’re celebrating a huge life moment here!) but also still feels like you.
Editorial Style Maternity Portraits In the Studio
We’ll go over the ‘looks’ that work best for you during our planning stage but also during our session we’ll have fun coming up with different poses based on the outfits you’ve chosen and your comfort level. I have spent hours selecting beautiful designer maternity dresses and outfits that photograph beautifully so if you don’t have an outfit you love at home, you’ll be able to choose pieces out of our client closet that you’ll love! As a mom, I know what it was like to try to find clothes that fit each month during pregnancy and by having dresses ranging from Small-3x, there is a style to suit everyone! The use of our beautiful designer dresses are included with each collection so feel free to go full glam with one look and more simple with another.
Outdoor Maternity Photography In Kingston, Ontario
Maybe your heart is set on some beautiful outdoor maternity portraits and you love the sweeping landscapes and bold colour only outdoors can give. That’s wonderful! We are so lucky to have so many gorgeous locations in Kingston, Ontario for outdoor pregnancy photos and I know that we can come up with the perfect spot for you (partners, children and dogs welcome too!) that will give us a variety of backdrops in your session. Our outdoor maternity photoshoots also include access to most of our designer pregnancy gowns so you can have the looks you love from our portfolio but in the great outdoors.
P.S. I don’t photograph maternity portraits outside in the Winter, I’m a baby in the cold and so is my equipment!

Including Your Partner In Your Maternity Photoshoot
While the decision to include your partner or children is up to you, I do encourage you to include your partner in your pregnancy portraits as this is an important time in their life too and you’ll love seeing how excited your partner can get watching you be a model for an hour or two. You are going to look amazing and often clients will make it a date day and go to their favourite restaurant afterwards. And even if your partner doesn’t like getting their portraits taken, we promise it will be relaxing, fun and pain free for them! If you do choose to include your partner in portraits, we’ll create images of both you and your partner and you by yourself so there will be lots of options in your proofing gallery to choose from. Should I Include My Children In My Maternity Photoshoot?
Yes, you definitely can! Your children are probably just as excited as you are! Your children are welcome to join in for part of the session if you choose the family collection in the studio or outdoors but often clients opt for our outdoor maternity photoshoot where kids can be more free to run around during Spring, Summer and Fall. In the studio we photograph the family maternity portraits first and then your children can be picked up by a grandparent or play while the rest of the session focuses on you. I’m happy to speak to you about all options available to you and if after we chat you feel like you just want to focus on you during the session and keep the kids at home, that’s okay too! This is your special time to focus on your motherhood journey!
P.S. please don’t worry about having active children (I have two of those!). I have photographed over 800 children in the last 12 years and kids think my dance moves are hilarious!
Acknowledging The Struggles Of Your Motherhood Journey
Many Mothers struggle to get pregnant and their journey to get to this point may have taken many years. If this is part of your story, let’s honour the miracle your baby represents. Whether we incorporate a rainbow to represent a ‘rainbow baby’ or butterfly, your ultrasounds, or some other personal item, we can make your journey a part of your images or wait to incorporate something into your new baby’s portrait session.

What To Expect After Your Maternity Photoshoot
You’ll receive your private, online proofing gallery within 24 hours to select your favourite portraits from the photoshoot. The number of digital images included in your pre-purchased collection and any additional digital images, fine art prints and any other artwork you’d like will be chosen and paid for during this proofing stage. Your portraits will be hand-edited with rich, true to life colours and only seen by Jen to ensure your privacy. You can’t rush perfection and I want you to love your portraits and be proud to put them up on your wall, so final editing will be made on your chosen images and delivered to you through digital download within 2-4 weeks and any products you purchased will be available for studio pick up as soon as they come in. We know that clients appreciate getting everything they need to display their gorgeous portraits in one place and trust that we offer the best keepsakes to remember such an important time in your life.

5 Digital Images of your choice via digital download
This is a Mom only mini session in the studio meaning partners/children are not included in the session.
*Deposit $250 + HST non-refundable Session Fee due to book your due date'/session into the calendar. Remaining balance of $200 + HST must be paid before the session date. Invoice for balance will be sent the week of the session.

Mom + Partner - Studio Session
Mom Portraits and Mom + Partner Portraits - $550 + HST
You will receive an online gallery within 24 hours after your session to review your proofs and choose your favourites.

60-90 minute studio session.

3-4 outfits from the Maternity Client Closet or from home
10 Digital Images of your choice via digital download
This is a Mom + Partner only session in the studio meaning children are not included in the session. Each set will have pictures of you by yourself and with your partner if you wish.

This is a Mom + Family session in a location in the Kingston area meaning your partner and children are included in the session, or choose to not include them for additional images of just you. We will chat about the best location to give you a variety of backdrops to work with.
Outdoor Sessions are only available between May 20th-November 10th.
*Deposit $250 + HST non-refundable Session Fee due to book your due date'/session into the calendar. Remaining balance of $525+ HST must be paid before the session date. Invoice for balance will be sent the week of the session.
