Clients often ask us what do I wear to a Maternity Photoshoot?
Let us take care of the hard part for you! We love providing incredible Designer Gowns for our pregnant clients. We know that sometimes you don’t feel your best when you are pregnant, it’s our job to help you realize just how gorgeous you are and what you wear can play a huge role in that! Often what we wear on an everyday basis works for every day but doesn’t work in the studio. But we’re not going to send you shopping, each Maternity Collection you choose comes with a specific amount of “looks” to add variety to your session and we can take care of every look for you. “Looks” can include a designer dress from our ever-expanding Client Closet for Moms, or a pair of fabulous jeans from home. Maybe your “look” includes your favourite pair of Jimmy Choo’s or Doc Martins, or a Suit Jacket, knee high boots, a fun pregnancy bathing suit you just love or your favourite romper. It’s time to get creative and we’d definitely love to help you decide on your final looks.
When you go through our available gowns below to make your final choices we recommend keeping these thoughts in mind:
Choose outfits that are a variety of colours
Try different styles to get the most out of your session. Try a casual look, a more fashion-inspired or sophisticated look and a fancier dress. Be adventurous with your choices - this is your dream photoshoot!
Mix up the clothing types from short and long, dresses vs. bodysuits or rompers, fabric styles to tulle
Accessorize with hats, shoes or jewelry or change up a look with layering a scarf, kimono, or jacket
Fabric Style
We have lots of different fabric colours and textures that we can create different editorial looks with. If you are adventurous this type of portrait is for you and looks great both on a backdrop colour as well as backlit in black and white.
Rainbow Tie-on Skirt * new *
This brand new tie-on skirt in pastel rainbow can be added to any dress you wear. We’ve paired it with our open front dress in this portrait but you could have a crop top, bra, or any other top or dress to compliment it. Because it’s just a ribbon to tie on, it can fit many sizes and is perfect when celebrating your rainbow baby!

Pink Champagne Sequin Couture Gown
This dress is extra fancy for those Mom’s that want that gorgeous maternity look. Recommend wearing nude undergarments.
Dress size: Extra Small/Small. Only available for Studio Maternity.
White Crochet Dress
Belt added by Mom. Wear white bra and underwear beneath. We paired it with a pink tulle tie on skirt that can fit many sizes to change up the look. The dress ends at mid-thigh.

Black Sequin Bodysuit
This really fun bodysuit is for the adventurous Mama! It’s see-through so we recommend a black bra underneath and it is a thong style so we recommend bringing a fun pair of jeans to go with it.

Pink Sparkle Tulle Dress
Just a little bit of sequins to add a touch of glam. Recommend wearing white or skin colour undergarments.

This dress is for the adventurous as it’s see-through! Recommend wearing white or skin colour undergarments.

Black Dress
Black ribbed knit dress has some stretch to it so it can also fit some medium sized mamas. It has an open back and sits above the knee. Recommend smooth material bra and underwear or going without a bra. Bring in a fun hat to add a little extra style!

Open Front White Dress
For Mama’s that want to show a little bit of skin. Can easily close the front for a closed look. Recommend smooth white bra and underwear.

Black or Gold sequin shawl
We love this fun black sequin shawl. This Mom paired it with her black bralette but a plain black bra would do well, or even something super fun like a hot pink one! We love that she paired it with jeans that don’t do up anymore for this super casual but editorial look.
We also have a Gold Sequin Shawl as well which would pair nicely with a nude bra.

Blue Sequin Couture Tulle Dress
This designer dress from Leah Marie Couture is fancy for those Mom’s that want that gorgeous Fine Art look. Recommend wearing nude undergarments. The dress is not very stretchy so we do recommend this dress for those in a size Small but we can take front on pictures with it not done up in the back like we did with the Mom in the second picture if you have your heart set on this incredible gown.

Red Dress With Train
This dress is a nice, classic choice for Mom’s who want to have that gorgeous maternity look while being covered up. Recommend wearing smooth undergarments so texture doesn’t come through the fabric.

Blue Dress With Train
This beautiful dress from a local Ontario designer is a beautiful blue colour and has more stretch then you would think. It’s a client favourite! Recommend a smooth bra and underwear as material is thinner and would show a lace bra’s material through.

Blue Ruffle Dress
A fun dress that is a client fave. Has some stretch so it can fit a medium too. Ends just above the knee. Can wear on the shoulder or off the shoulder. Recommend smooth bra and underwear beneath so you don’t see any design coming through material.

Gold Star & Black Star Cover Up Dress
This fun see-through dress can be paired with nude undergarments shown here or something more colourful. It’s a great way of showing off your growing bump while still being a bit covered up.
Dress size: Small-Large, has some stretch around the top portion
White Lace Robe
Doesn’t close so it fits Small-Large. Important to wear white bra and underwear beneath as it’s see through. You can wear a smooth one or go extra fancy.

Make a statement with this fabulous dress! It has a leg slit for extra variety and makes every Mama feel like a star! This designer gown is the same as the blue one below. We know you will love both the feel of this dress and how it makes you feel!

Look fabulous, feel fabulous in this designer dress! With it’s leg opening we can add a lot of variety to your portraits. This dress is the same designer dress as the purple one above and is a flattering fit for many women. Every part of it has stretch including the wrists.

This beautiful lace dress from a local Ontario designer is a beautiful olive green colour and has some stretch. Dress ends just before the knees with a pretty scallop edge.

This gorgeous gown with hand sewed flower detailing is a beautiful addition to your Studio Maternity Portrait Session. The dress has detachable tulle sleeves to change up the look and because of how it’s made it fits a variety of sizes. Easily able to clip it back like we did for this Mom sized Medium. Just gorgeous! The dress is lower V- cut so recommend you bring a black cami or tank top for underneath if you are more modest (model shown with black lace tank top underneath). Very long to the floor in gorgeous black lace.

Ivory Clara with side slit
Look fabulous, feel fabulous in this designer dress! With it’s optional leg opening we can add a lot of variety to your portraits. This dress is the same designer dress as the purple and light blue one above and is a flattering fit for many women. Every part of it has stretch including the wrists.

This beautiful dress in a silky smooth material has great stretch and will be flattering on any Mama!

Mauve Lace Dress
This gorgeous dress is clipped back on this Grandmother so it can fit anyone from L-3x. Beautiful colour, but we recommend not choosing this dress if you have pale skin as it can wash your colour out. Dress is low cut so recommend choosing appropriate bra or adding a lace cami underneath if you want to be more covered up.
Dress size: 3x, can be clipped back for smaller size like on the Grandmother
